At the end of the year I always find it nice to do a look back post, however, as I have not posted during 2022, and restarted on 1 December, I don’t have anything ‘blog wise’ to look back on. My notes for the year are also quite shocking, but I have enough to go on I think. Initially this started as one post but as I began filling in the months, I realised it was too long and split it in two. I also realised while doing this 2022 was quite a depressing year.
Below we have January – June 2022.
January
1st – The warmest New Years Day on record, is recording in St James Park, London.
4th – A Statement is issued from China, Russia, United Kingdom, USA and France, all permanate members of the Security Council. The Statement reaffirmed that a nuclear war could never be won and should never be fought.
6th – Sidney Poitier, died, aged 94. Sidney was the first black actor to win a Best Actor, Academy Award. He won the award for his role in Lilies of the Field in 1963.
7th – Covid – 19 Cases exceed 300 Million around the globe.
10th – The first success pig to human heart transplant occured in the USA.
12th – Prince Andrew fails in his bid to dismiss a US civil sex assault case brought against him by Virginia Giuffre.
13th – Prince Andrew royal patronages and military titles are removed and returned to the Queen, including his HRH.
14th – Reports of Downing Street and the Prime Minister breaking lockdown rules are reported in the national tabloids. It is also reported that Downing Street held two parties the night before Prince Philips funeral. Downing Street issue an apology to the Queen.
15th – A volcano in Tonga errupted and triggered a Tsunami warnings in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Japan.
16th – Novak Djokovic is deported from Australia after refusing to have the Covid-19 vaccine, following a high profile legal case.

20th – Meatloaf died aged 74. Will always be remembered for his top selling album Bat Out of Hell, and the song I’ll Do Anything for Love (but I won’t do that), which was a huge hit in the 1990’s.
25th – The MET Police confirm that they will be investigating the Lockdown breeches during the Covid-19 pandemic at Downing Street.
29th – Storm Malik hits the UK, causing two deaths.
February
1st – Boris Johnson travels to the Ukraine for talks with President Zelensky
4th – 20th – The Winter Olympics are held in Beijing, China. Beijing is the first city to host both the summer and winter Olympics.
5th – Cyclone Batsirai kills 123 people across Madagascar, Reunion and Mauritius, just two weeks after a tropical storm claimed 115 lives.
10th – Cressida Dick stands down as MET Police Commisioner.
15th – Prince Andrew settles out of Court with Virginia Gruife
18th – Storm Eunice, one of the most powerful storms to hit the UK, leaves 3 people dead and blows the roof off the O2 Arena.
24th – Russia invades the Ukraine
26th – Due to the Russian invasion of the Ukraine, the EU, USA and their allies, remove Russian banks from the SWIFT payments and put sanctions on the Russian Bank.
27th – Putin orders Russia’s nuclear detterant forces to be on high-alert, stating it is a response to NATO. The move is condemned by the USA. Due to Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine, Europian Countries ban Russia entering their air space.
28th – IPCC release a statement. It concludes that many impacts are on the verge of becoming “irreversible”.
March
1st – The World Athletics Council ban both Russia and Belarus from competing in all of its events. The UN passes a resolution condeming Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine and calls for the imediate withdrawal of their troops.
1st – Southend-On-Sea becomes a City.
2nd – Russia seizes their first city, Kershon and almost a million refugees flee the Ukraine.
4th – 13th – The Winter Paralympics are held in Beijing, once again making it first city to host both the summer and winter paralympics.
4th – Shane Warne, Australia Cricketer died aged 52.
5th – Shackleton’s ship Endurance, is discovered in Antartica after being shipwrecked in 1915.
7th – Covid – 19 Global death toll surpasses 6 million
16th – Russian airstrike hits a theatre in Mariupol, killing at least 600 civilians who had been sheltering inside.
16th – Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, detained by Iran in 2016, is freed and allowed to return to the UK
21st – A plane in China, (China Easten Airways) chrashes killing 133 people on board.
April
7th – The UN votes to suspend Russia from the Human Rights Council.
13th – Covid -19 cases reported to have exceeded 500 Million worldwide.
22nd – The Large Hadron Collider begins operations again after being stopped for 3 years for upgrades.
May
6th – The first confirmed cases of Monkey Pox are confirmed in London
10th – Prince Charles and Prince William attend the opening of Parliment in place of the Queen, to deliver her speech.
10th – 14th – Turin, Italy hosts the Eurovision Song Contest.
17th – The Queen visits Paddington Station to open the completed Elizabeth Line.
14th – The Ukraine wins the Eurovision song contest, with Sam Ryder from the UK coming 2nd.
28th – Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League beating Liverpool, 1 – 0.
June
2nd – The Queens Platinum Jubilee -The Queen attends attends the Trooping the Colour parade at Horse Guards Parade, a flypast by the Red Arrows and lights the first Platinum Jubilee Beacon at Windsor Castle. Prince Andrew is absent stating he had tested positive for Covid.
3rd – The Platinum Jubilee celebration of Thanks Giving is held at St Pauls Cathedral.

4th – The Platinum Jubilee Party is held at the Palace, with the Queen appearing with Paddington Bear, tapping hre spoon to We Will Rock You.
5th – The Platinum Jubilee Pageant takes place in London, concluding the Jubilee weekend. Afterwards, the Queen releases a message of thanks in which she says she is “humbled and deeply touched” by the celebrations across the UK
5th – 50 people are killed in Nigeria following a shooting-bomb attack.
12th – Queen Elizabeth II becomes the longest reigning Monarch in history.
17th – The hottest day of the year is recorded in the UK 32.7 degrees celsius
26th – G7 Leaders gather in Germany to discuss Russia’s invasion on the Ukraine, a decision is made to to ban imports on Russian gold.
27th – 53 migrants are found dead in trailer in Texas, USA.
28th – 30th – NATO summit held in Spain, primarily to discuss Russia.
