Tell me, why is it, even when the year has been busy, you reflect back and feel like you have achieved nothing? or, is it just me? I cannot believe I have reached the end of another year, already, where does the time go. I wake on Monday and before I know it, it is Sunday and I am getting ready for Monday again.
2022 has seen the world gradually come out of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is the first year, since 2019, that there have been no restrictions. I do feel though that even though the Covid death announcements have ceased, that there have been a lot of deaths this year from other things. I have had my fair share of funerals this year, or have heard of acquaintances who have died. There have also been a couple of births and few weddings, which has been nice.
I attended a few nice things this year with my daughter. The first was getting to see The Killers, Mirage Stadium Tour in concert, after booking it in 2019. It was a very late night but I did enjoy it. We were right at the front, which was fab but had a heartattack every time a confetti cannon went off. They were supported by The Manic Street Preachers, who I have never really minded that much but their set was also very enjoyable. This was also my daughters first proper concent, so I was pleased it was good.

The next day (as this is how these things work for me, all or nothing), we attended Radio 1’s Big Weekend. It was fabulous, even if I was knackered from the previous night. We had a great time, my daughter got to see Harry Styles perform live, which has been her dream for ages. There were lots of other performers, George Ezra, Jax Jones, Lorde, Mabel, etc… One of the sets I enjoyed the most was Becky Hill, she was very good live, and Jax Jones was really entertaining.

Later on in the summer we went to see Shakespeares, As You Like It, performed outside Astley Castle. We had lovely hot weather and really enjoyed being outside. The performance was okay, but not the best. It was a theatre group I had seen a few times so it was a little disappointing but they did their best and that is the main thing.

In July, we all celebrated my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary. We celebrated over the whole weekend which was nice. It began with a fabulous private dining experience at Coombe Abbey. My brother organised this for them and also booked them an over night stay, at the hotel. The room he booked for them was gorgeous. Then we had a family day on the Sunday, where I cooked all the food, which was also nice but not as fancy.

In September, we had a lovely family holiday in Newquay. The location, accomodation, beaches, food, everything was really nice. We all had a fantastic time and it was the break that we all needed. We also visited Lands End and Truro. We signed the book of condolence for The Queen in Truro, and we had a churro in Truro, which was very good.
Besides the above we have been on walks and shopping trips. At the beginning of December I went to Wembley Stadium for an awards ceremony with my brothers business. I saw and walked around the stadium, which is huge. We had a great time.
It’s nice to look back and see I have done a few things. I am not sure that I am able to pick a highlight, but it would have to be my parents 40th Anniversary. It was just really nice being with everyone and celebrating.
I hope you all had a good year, and that you have a great night tonight. Remember stay safe and I will see you all again in 2023.
