My theme for the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge is – Places I Have Been. After some contemplation I decided to limit it to Places I Have been in the UK, this is because I have been to far more places in the UK and have very limited experience of places outside of the UK. I hope you enjoy my post.

Dartmoor

Dartmoor is a National Park located in Devon. It is a unique experience with open moorland, river valleys and waterfalls. It is such a beautiful place to visit, whether it is for a few hours or a few days. I’m also lead to believe that there are some lovely camping sites, however, I don’t do camping so I will let you discover that yourself.

I first visited Dartmoor as a child, at about 8 or 9 years old and one of the places we visited was Becky Falls. I remember being in awe of the beauty of the falls an the surrounding area. It is all a bit more commercialised now and there is an admission cost to see the falls. I have just been and looked on the website and it appears as though there is far more to do now.

One of nice things about Dartmoor besides the views and the nature, are all the picturesque villages surrounding it. It is hard to chose a favourite but I do lean towards Widecombe-in-the-Moor. Widecombe-in-the-Moor has some quaint properties and is a visual feast for the eyes. It is such a beautiful place, I envy the residents.

Another village/town (not sure what it is classed as) worth a visit is Okehampton. It is situated by Dartmoor’s two highest Tors – High Willhays and Yes Tor. There is a pretty Victorian shopping centre and lots of independent shops.
