My theme for the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge is – Places I Have Been. After some contemplation I decided to limit it to Places I Have been in the UK, this is because I have been to far more places in the UK and have very limited experience of places outside of the UK. I hope you enjoy my post.

OXFORD

Having just finished the last episode of Endeavor, I feel as though I need to visit Oxford again soon, it is such a beautiful place. The City is centred around the University, which was extablished in the 12th Century.

It has been a long time since my last visit to Oxford. I went a number of times while I was studying art but have not been since. I only went to go to exhibitions and take in the beautiful architecture. I remember seeing alot of the college buildings that are part of the University. On one visit we went to see either Trinity or Magdelene College and they were filming an episode of ‘Lewis’. If you remember the Inspector Morse series, Lewis was his partner and it was a spin off series. Anyway due to the filming I never got to see the building. I had forgotten all about that until I started writing this post.

Ashmolean – Image from Google Search

One of the places I remember well is the Ashmolean. The Ashmolean is the University of Oxfords art and archeology museum. The museum was founded in the 17th Century and it is a fascinating place to visit. They have quite a big and varied collection with treasures from all over the world along side some very interesting pieces of art.

Thank you for reading x

  1. I loved, loved, loved Endeavour!!! I didn’t ever watch the original Morse series but the setting and the music in Endeavour was inspiring. I spent a day in Oxford and would love to go back since watching the TV series.
