Last Thursday, myself, my daughter and my mom visited Champneys and we had a great day. For many years have a facial and have a massage were on my 101 Lists, and they never happened. I am not sure why, lack of money and inclination probably, however, I have now completed both and ticked off another item from my current 101 Things List.
98. Have a Spa Day – Completed May 2025

We went to Champneys Springs which is about a 30 to 40 minute drive from where we live. We got there for about 9 am and the car park was quite full however there were some spaces. After parking the car we made our way to the reception. We were greeted by a very nice lady on reception and as it was our first visit we were given a tour of the facilities. This was really helpful as she showed us how to use the lockers, and we were able to help other guests later that day.
We then went and had a coffee which was part of the welcome breakfast. I didn’t have anything but a coffee, as I am a bit weird with food in the mornings. I might explain this one day but not right now. Even though I didn’t have anything to eat my daughter did and it did all look very nice. There was yogurt and granola, croissants and also fresh fruit, as well as juice, tea and coffee.

My mom had here reflexology session scheduled for 10 am so while she was doing that myself and my daughter went to the pool. We had a swim in the main pool, a relax in the bubble pool and an interesting time in the hydrotherapy pool. To be honest I loved the hydrotherapy pool there were lots of jets some more powerful than others. It was also lovely and warm, but you could only spend 10 minutes in there.
At 11 am I had my reflexology appointment, with a nice lady called Janet. My feet apparently had a lot of stress. I am not surprised. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about someone touching my feet, well any part of me really, I was not looking forward to the massage. I had no need to worry because it was fine and the whole experience was really relaxing and Janet was very knowledgeable.
At 12 noon, it was time for lunch and what a lunch. It was a buffet and it was a lot better than I expected. I had salad, humus, boiled eggs and some chicken curry with wild rice, along with half a slice of homemade bread, which I couldn’t resist. There was also jacket potatoes, a seafood dish, and a couple of vegetarian options which all looked very nice. My daughter and mom tried most of the dishes between them and enjoyed them all too. There was also a soup but we didn’t try that. Desert was either fruit salad or blackberry crumble. I had some fruit salad with Macha cream which I enjoyed. If you wanted something other than water to drink with your lunch you had to pay extra.
There was a bar next to the dining hall which was open all day for visitors to buy drinks and snacks from. We brought a few drinks, but water was readily available throughout the resort.
During the afternoon we all had an upper body blitz massage and a facial. Even though the massage hurt like hell in places, I can still feel the benefit from it. My back, neck and shoulders are feeling a lot looser and a lot of the pain I had in my neck and shoulder has gone.
Overall the day was a success. We all had a great time and thinking about our next visit. Only next time I am going to make sure I take my own water bottle with me and ask for slippers instead of flipflops as I nearly killed myself in the flipflops several times.
PS – Our internet was not working for nearly a week, so I am behind with my posts.
